Stand-up show 'On Edge' by Andrew Bird, who draws on childhood stories and recent anecdotes in his relaxed, improvisatory style.
Andrew Bird brings his new show On Edge to Monkey Barrel Comedy on Thursday 28 January 2027. The title gives it away: it's a look at a man who spends a fair amount of his time worrying or feeling stressed, and the show follows him as he explores exactly where that edge lies. He works his way through the things that push him there, from the everyday frictions of family life to the oddly specific frustration of hanging a wine rack.
Bird's style is relaxed and improvisatory, and he builds his sets from childhood stories and recent anecdotes. He first decided he wanted to be funny as an eight-year-old, after watching The Young Ones with his brothers. Since then, he's supported Russell Howard, Rob Brydon, Brian Regan, Michelle Wolfe and Michael McIntyre, and at the UK Comedy Awards he was voted Comic's Comic – Best Act. The critics have been on board too: The Stage called him 'a natural comedian' and Time Out described him as 'the exciting rising star'.
