Headline show by the British collective Alabama 3, fusing country, acid house, blues and gospel, at The Caves in the Old Town.
Alabama 3 play The Caves on Thursday 5 November, their Edinburgh date as part of a tour across the UK and Ireland. They're billed as serving up "sweet pretty country acid house music all night long", and that's a fair summary of what they do. Formed in Brixton in 1995, they're a British collective that blends country, acid house, blues and gospel into one sound.
Most people will recognise them from one particular track: "Woke Up This Morning", which became the theme song for the HBO series The Sopranos and brought them global recognition. Since then, they've kept touring the UK and Ireland, and they've earned a reputation as one of the country's more anarchic live acts. The set balances political commentary and tongue-in-cheek humour with a strobe-lit rave energy that's become a staple of the UK festival circuit.

There's a bit of history behind the name, too. The band continued after the 2019 death of founding member Jake Black, who went by the stage name The Very Reverend D. Wayne Love. The Edinburgh date is a headline show presented by DF Concerts, so it's just them on the bill. Doors open at 19:00 at The Caves, 8-12 Niddry Street South in the Old Town, and there's a 14+ age restriction, with under-16s needing to attend with an adult.
