Concert journey through the history of country music, with hits by Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and others, played by Dominic Halpin & The Hurricanes.
A Country Night in Nashville comes to the Edinburgh Playhouse on Saturday 13 March 2027, with Dominic Halpin & The Hurricanes featuring Shelly Quarmby taking the stage. It's billed as a concert journey through the history of country music, and the whole thing is staged to feel like a downtown Nashville honky tonk: neon lights, a buzzing room, and a setlist of timeless classics.
At its heart, the show leans into country's storytelling tradition, weaving together tales of love, heartache, and the human spirit's ability to persevere. The songs come from some of the biggest names in the genre: Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Alan Jackson, The Chicks, and Willie Nelson. Among the hits they'll be working through are Ring Of Fire, Crazy, Follow Your Arrow, It's Five O'Clock Somewhere, Need You Now, 9-5, and The Gambler.
Dominic Halpin & The Hurricanes lead the way, with Shelly Quarmby joining them on vocals. The ensemble is backed by a full band, and the singers and musicians have both been singled out in reviews. It's a night built around the songs themselves, with the honky tonk setting providing the backdrop for the set.
