If you haven't come across them yet, The War and Treaty are the husband-and-wife team of Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Blount-Trotter. They've built their following around a bluesy fusion of Southern soul, gospel, country and rock-and-roll, and their live show is described as nearly revival-like in intensity. They've opened for Al Green and toured with Brandi Carlile and Jason Isbell.
They've picked up recognition from the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Grand Ole Opry and the Americana Music Association, which named them 2022 Duo/Group of the Year. At the 2024 GRAMMY Awards, they were nominated for Best New Artist and Best American Roots Song, and they're Emmy Award winners. The duo formed in 2014.
