Country music veteran Jack Ingram performs live at The Kessler Theater, with Waylon Payne on stage.
Jack Ingram plays The Kessler Theater on Thursday, December 10, with Waylon Payne joining him on stage. It's a Texas music veteran coming back to a Dallas room, and if you've seen him before, you know he's a live performer first—he's put out six live albums over the years, which tells you where he likes to spend his time.
His latest studio record, Ridin' High...again, is his tenth. It did well with the critics: Rolling Stone called it "searing," and the Dallas Morning News described it as "a gloriously raw, sweaty record full of swirling dust and swagger." That's a good way to frame what he does—country music that doesn't mind getting its hands dirty.
Ingram has a long history in the scene. The Academy of Country Music gave him awards for Top New Male Artist and Song of the Year, and he's picked up GRAMMY and CMA nominations along the way. These days he's also the host of Texas Music Scene, a syndicated TV show that features Texas-based artists in more than 80 markets, so he's as much a part of the state's music infrastructure as he is one of its performers.
