The Dallas Opera presents The Elixir of Love, a popular comedic opera by Gaetano Donizetti, opening the 2026/2027 season.
The Dallas Opera opens its 2026/2027 season with The Elixir of Love, running at the Winspear Opera House on October 9, 11, 14, and 17. It's a comedic opera that's held up as one of the most popular of the last nearly two centuries, and this is a new-to-Dallas production co-owned by The Dallas Opera and Palm Beach Opera. It was originally created for Santa Fe Opera, so it's coming to us from there.
On stage, Soraya Mafi takes the role of Adina, with Anthony León as Nemorino, Alessandro Corbelli as Dr. Dulcamara, Mihai Damian as Belcore, and Kayla Nanto as Giannetta. The Guardian described Mafi's Adina as delivering everything immaculately, and My Scena calls tenor Anthony León one of the most-awarded singers of the current generation. The production is sung in Italian with projected English titles, so you'll be able to follow the story even if you don't speak the language.
Behind the scenes, the production is led by conductor Guillermo García Calvo and director Stephen Lawless. Ashley Martin-Davis handled the sets and costumes, Thomas Hase did the lighting, David Zimmerman took care of wigs and makeup, and Paolo Bressan directed the chorus. Together they've brought this particular staging to the Winspear, and since it's the season opener, it's the first thing the company is putting on the calendar for the year.

All four performances start at 8 PM, and the show runs about two hours and 25 minutes with one intermission. One thing to keep in mind before you go: the production contains strobing and flashing lights. You can find tickets at the Dallas Opera's official site or through TicketDFW.
