Devon Gilfillian performs his album Time Will Tell live, with special guest Jon Muq, at The Kessler Theater.
Devon Gilfillian plays The Kessler Theater on Saturday, October 17, as part of his Time Will Tell tour. He's bringing along special guest Jon Muq to open the night, and the Dallas date is presented by KXT 91.7.
Time Will Tell is Gilfillian's third studio album, and there's a specific story to how it came together. He recorded it live to tape on varispeed at Nashville's RCA Studio A, with most of the vocals captured in single takes. He wrote and produced the record with a team that included his longtime drummer and friend Jonathan Smalt, and Neal H Pogue—who has worked with Tyler, the Creator and OutKast—served as executive producer. The album moves through rock, funk, and country elements, and Gilfillian is open about his own failure and frailty throughout the songs.
That mix of styles—rock, funk, and country—is what you'll hear live, and the set is built around the new material. With Jon Muq opening, the evening puts two songwriters on one bill. The show is open to all ages, so it's one you can bring the whole family to if you're into this kind of music.
