Live yacht rock dance party played by Yachtopia's Live Band at Rumba Cafe, presented by Celebrity Etc.
Yachtopia's Live Band is playing a yacht rock party at Rumba Cafe on Friday, November 6, with Celebrity Etc. presenting. It's a night built around the smooth, soft-rock sound of the yacht rock era, played live in a dance-party format rather than a seated concert. If you're not familiar with the term, yacht rock is that polished, melodic West Coast sound from the late 1970s and early 80s—think Steely Dan, The Doobie Brothers, and Hall & Oates—the kind of music that feels like it belongs on a boat in the sun.
That's the core of the whole evening. Yachtopia's Live Band takes those smooth-grooving tracks and plays them live, and the dance-party format means it's more about moving than sitting and listening. It's less of a formal show and more of a night out where the music keeps going and the dance floor stays open. The band bills it as "Ohio's best live band Yacht Rock Party!"
Celebrity Etc. is the one putting it together, and they're leaning fully into the era's sound. The whole thing is built around that particular brand of soft rock—the clean production, the melodic hooks, and the easy-going rhythms that defined the yacht rock years. It's a specific mood, and that's exactly what they're going for.
