WOSU Daniel Tiger's Be My Neighbor Day: A Day of Kindness for Families

Daniel Tiger is coming to the Columbus Metropolitan Library - Main Library on Saturday, November 14, for a family morning hosted by WOSU Public Media. It's called Daniel Tiger's Be My Neighbor Day, and the whole thing is built around the idea of being a friendly neighbor. The event runs from 9 AM to 11 AM, so it's a Saturday morning thing you can do with the kids before the rest of the day gets away from you.

The main draw is meeting Daniel Tiger and Katerina Kittycat in person, but there's a full circuit of activities to keep the little ones busy. You can make a zipper pull to keep and another to donate, set up a kindness button, play a mitten matching game, and add an act of kindness to a snowflake wall. There's also a hot chocolate station to keep everyone warm while you move from one thing to the next. It's designed as a day of service learning for families, so the activities aren't just about making things—they're tied back to that neighborly theme.

If you're in the giving mood, there's a way to help out beyond the crafts: you can donate new winter clothing like coats, hats, and gloves for children served by Columbus City Schools. It's a good time to clear out those extra new winter pieces you might have sitting around and put them toward something useful for kids in the city.

Practical stuff: it's free, but you'll need to register in advance, and spots are limited, so it's worth getting your name on the list sooner rather than later. The Main Library is at 96 S. Grant Ave., and parking is free in the attached garage, which you can get to from Library Park North. The whole thing runs from 9 AM to 11 AM on Saturday, November 14.
