The You Kind of Kind

The You Kind of Kind opens at Studio One Theatre, Riffe Center on April 2, 2027, and runs through April 24. It's a world premiere musical presented by the Columbus Children's Theatre, and the whole thing is inspired by a children's book by Columbus native, drag superstar, and kindness icon Nina West.

The story follows Nina, an irrepressibly optimistic young girl, on what should be a perfect 'Suptastic Adventure Saturday' with her dad. When she finds him too sad to join in, she sets out to cheer him up with the help of her imaginary friend Kwerk. Together they search for the grand act of kindness that will summon 'Tingle Tangle' — a shower of magical glitter that appears whenever genuine kindness is shared. Along the way, she learns that forcing kindness doesn't always work the way you expect.

It's described as a heartfelt adventure for audiences of all ages, filled with the warmth, humor, and joyful spirit that have made Nina West a national voice for compassion and creativity. Since it's a world premiere, this is the first time the show is being staged, and it's coming from a local theater company working with a story inspired by one of the city's own. The run goes from April 2 to April 24 at the Riffe Center's Studio One Theatre in downtown Columbus.
