Family-friendly Halloween alternatives including safe trick-or-treating and trunk-or-treating events across Columbus neighborhoods.
Church of Scientology Central Ohio is hosting a free community Halloween event on Saturday, October 31, from 1 PM to 4 PM at 1266 Dublin Road, Columbus, Ohio 43215. It's part of the wider wave of safe trick-or-treating and trunk-or-treating happening across Columbus neighborhoods this season.
If you're not familiar, safe trick-or-treating is a family-friendly alternative to the usual door-to-door route, aimed at young children. Instead of walking the neighborhood, these events take place during the day at community centers, downtown areas with road closures, or blocked-off parking lots. Trunk-or-treating is a specific version of that: people decorate their car trunks with themes and displays, and you move from car to car for treats, so there's very little walking between stops. It's a low-stress way to get the kids in costume without the late-night trek.
This one falls on Halloween day itself, so it works well if you're looking for a daytime activity before the evening kicks in. It's free to attend, and since it's in a parking lot setting, it's a good fit for families with toddlers or little ones who might get worn out by a full neighborhood loop.

It's also just one of many Halloween things going on around town. The Columbus area has a whole spread of autumn activities this month—pumpkin patches, corn mazes, haunted woods, haunted houses, ghost tours, and farm events—so you can easily pair this with a morning at a patch or a trip to a maze. The event runs from 1 PM to 4 PM on Saturday, October 31, at 1266 Dublin Road, and it's free.
