World premiere of Greg Vovos' full-length play, the first production of MadLab's 2026-2027 season, with final performances on October 30-31.
MadLab is hosting the world premiere of Rewrite, a full-length play by Greg Vovos, running from Thursday, October 15, through Saturday, October 31. It's the first production of MadLab's 2026-2027 season, and it's part of the city's ARTober program, with funding from the GCAC and the OAC. Most shows start at 8 PM, though opening night runs on both Friday and Saturday nights. The final performances are Friday, October 30, and Saturday, October 31, from 8 to 10 PM.
The play lands in a territory that's absurd, comedic, realistic, and surreal all at once. It follows a writer who, after a personal tragedy, starts a new play to make sense of what comes next, only to find that his characters have plans of their own and won't let him tell the story he wants. Reviewers have likened it to the work of David Lynch and David Cronenberg, and to the Theatre of the Strange, so it's the kind of thing that doesn't stay in one lane for long.
