Live jazz night with a two-piece ensemble at the basement jazz lounge Blu on Town in downtown Columbus.
Live Jazz is at Blu on Town this Sunday, October 25, part of the jazz nights that run Wednesday through Sunday. Blu is a jazz cafe with two Columbus locations that keeps the energy of the old neighborhood jazz joint: down-home, warm, soulful, and built for live music. Blu on Town is the underground lounge in the basement of the Snowden-Gray House, a former Governor's Mansion turned modern social club in downtown Columbus. The house dates to 1852, and the downstairs music room and upstairs rooms still keep their 14-foot ceilings and original marble fireplaces.
The music is played by real musicians in two-piece ensembles rather than as background noise, so the jazz is the main event, not just something playing while you eat. The menu pays homage to cities known for their jazz culture, including New Orleans, Chicago, Kansas City, Memphis, Cleveland, and Philadelphia, with gumbo and old fashioned cocktails on offer.
