Weekly free live-music show of a different Columbus artist on Charlie's Stage at Natalie's Grandview, supported by the Columbus Blues Alliance.
Natalie's Grandview is hosting another Happening Hour show this Wednesday, October 28, from 5:00 to 6:30 PM on Charlie's Stage. It's part of their weekly series of local live-music shows, with a different Columbus artist on the bill each night and the Columbus Blues Alliance providing support. The format is straightforward: a single local act taking the stage for a mid-week set, with the lineup rotating every week.
If you've been following the series through the autumn, you've seen the kind of variety that runs through it. The room has hosted a string of local acts across the season, including 2020 Grammy nominee Bobby Floyd on the classic Hammond B3 organ and Blues Hall of Fame inductee Rick Collura. Singer-songwriter and producer Happy Chichester has played, as has the modern swing group Whirlybirds, whose members pull from jazz, funk, R&B and even punk rock. Each night brings a different name from the city's music scene, so the sound changes from one week to the next.
Because it's a weekly series, it's easy to drop in when the artist on the bill happens to be someone you've been wanting to hear. The shows run on Wednesday afternoons, which makes them a good option if you're looking for something to do before the evening really gets going. The Columbus Blues Alliance is behind the series, and the focus stays on local talent.
