Free one-week supply of fresh produce for eligible families at the Feddersen Community Center, with walk-in and drive-thru options.
The Mobile Produce Market stops at Feddersen Community Center on Thursday, October 22, starting at 2 PM. It's part of a citywide program run by the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department, which brings these markets to select community centers across Columbus from April through November. If you're in the neighborhood, it's a good one to keep on your radar.
Here's the deal: eligible families can pick up a one-week supply of fresh produce at no cost. To qualify, your household needs to be at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. It's first-come, first-served, and only while supplies last, so if you're planning to go, showing up early is your best bet. The produce is provided by the Mid-Ohio Food Collective, which delivers it to the community centers for distribution.
One thing that makes this easier than a lot of other food programs is how you get your groceries. There are both walk-in and drive-thru options, so you can have your produce loaded straight into your car boot without even getting out. And since January 1, 2025, identification is no longer required at the market, which removes one more hurdle if you're just looking to get some fresh food on the table.
