Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical (Touring)

Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical is coming to the Palace Theatre for a short run from December 8 to 13, 2026. It's a touring production of the Broadway musical based on the Dr. Seuss story, and it's part of the Palace Theatre's 100th Anniversary Celebration.

The show takes the familiar tale and turns it into a full-scale musical with live performers, colorful costumes, and festive songs. It's a family-friendly holiday production that tours cities across the country, and it's recommended for all ages. The score brings back the hit songs "You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch" and "Welcome Christmas," which Albert Hague and Dr. Seuss wrote for the original animated special. Max the Dog narrates.

Behind the scenes, the production is directed by Matt August and co-directed and choreographed by Bob Richard, with original choreography by John DeLuca. It was originally created by four-time Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien, with music and book by Mel Marvin and Timothy Mason. The sets are by John Lee Beatty and the costumes by Robert Morgan, both inspired by Dr. Seuss' original illustrations. The show broke box office records for two consecutive years on Broadway during its holiday engagements at the St. James and Hilton theatres in New York, and more than 2.1 million theatre-goers across America have seen it since. The New York Times called it "AN EXTRAORDINARY PERFORMANCE! 100 times better than any bedtime story," and the Gannett papers hailed it as "A genius of a show! A total delight for both kids and adults."

There's no intermission, so you'll be in and out in one go. The run starts Tuesday, December 8, and goes through Friday, December 11, with performances at 7:30 PM each night. Saturday, December 12, has three showtimes: 11 AM, 3 PM, and 7 PM. Sunday, December 13, has two: 11 AM and 3 PM. The Palace Theatre is at 34 W Broad St, Columbus, OH 43215.
