Free mobile produce market at Dodge Community Center for eligible families, with walk-in and drive-thru distribution.
The Mobile Produce Market is stopping by the Dodge Community Center on Thursday, November 12, at 667 Sullivant Ave in Columbus. It's part of a citywide program run by the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department, which brings fresh produce to different community centers from April through November. The produce itself comes from the Mid-Ohio Food Collective.
Here's how it works: eligible families get a one-week supply of fresh produce at no cost. Distribution starts at 2 PM and runs while supplies last on a first-come, first-served basis, so getting there early is your best bet. You can walk up or drive through, and there's staff on hand to help load the produce into your car trunk. Since it's first-come, first-served, the earlier you arrive, the better your chances of getting a full haul.
There are a few things to keep in mind about who it's for. The program serves households at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level, with annual income limits that change based on your family size. If you're not sure where you stand, it's worth checking those limits beforehand. One thing that's changed recently: since January 1, 2025, you no longer need to show identification to participate.
