A family-friendly Halloween trick-or-treat event at the historic Palace Theatre featuring characters, crafts, and entertainment.
CAPA Haunts the Palace takes over The Palace Theatre on Wednesday, October 21, from 4 PM to 7 PM. It's a family-friendly Halloween trick-or-treat event that turns the historic theatre into a spooky, themed version of itself for kids of all ages to explore. If you're looking for a weather-proof alternative to the usual door-to-door rounds, this is it—you get the candy and the costumes without worrying about the rain or the cold.
There's a fair amount to see inside. You'll find creatures from the Ohio School of Falconry and characters from Castle on a Cloud Entertainment, along with a special Day of the Dead display. Between the trick-or-treating, there are crafts to make and selfie stations to stop at, and the entertainment comes from a few of the city's big names: Columbus Children's Theatre, the Columbus Symphony, Opera Columbus, and Short North Stage. It's a good mix of things to do, so it works even if you're only staying for an hour or two.
One thing to keep in mind: the Palace has stairs, so it's best to leave the stroller at home. The event also marks 100 years of the venue, which adds a nice layer to the whole thing—you're trick-or-treating through a century of Columbus theatre history.
