An immersive two-part exploration of mortality and relationships, with the interactive video installation 'Lucy AI' and the live performance 'Elephant'.
bluemouth inc. brings Game of Life to the Wexner Center for the Arts from Thursday, December 3 to Saturday, December 5. It's an immersive two-part work that looks at mortality, the urgency of time, and the holding on to and letting go of relationships. The whole thing is built around the story of artist Lucy Simic, who was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 2018. Her friend David Usher wanted to make sure her memories lived on, and that's where the two parts come in.
The first half is Lucy AI, an interactive video installation that changes every time you experience it. You step into Lucy's world, hear her thoughts, and connect with her memories. The evening then opens into Elephant, which brings the audience into a shared space with the performers as the ripple effects of one life-changing event unfold, blending personal stories, spontaneous moments, and heartfelt connections. The two parts together make up the full Game of Life experience.
bluemouth inc. is a Canadian not-for-profit performance collective that's been around since 1998. Their work marries choreographed movement, text, dialogue, sound design, original live music, video, and film into a single multisensory experience, and they're known for challenging the interaction between performers and the audience. This is the Ohio premiere of Game of Life, and it's supported by GCAC and OAC.
