A free water playgroup for babies and preschoolers from 6 months to 5 years, plus their parents and caregivers, featuring purposeful play stations in the water.
Splash About & Explore is a free water playgroup for babies and preschoolers, and it runs every Friday through the rest of 2026 at Charlotte Aquatics, 7835 Little Avenue. It's open to kids from 6 months to 5 years old, and they come with their parents or caregivers. If you've got a little one in that range, it's a low-pressure way to get them comfortable in the water.
Each session is built around purposeful play stations set up in the pool. You'll find floating toys, bubbles, gentle slides and pour-and-play sensory bins—the kind of things that keep a toddler occupied and curious. The whole thing is designed to support early development and make water time feel like play rather than a lesson. A trained instructor guides the group, but the kids move at their own pace, so there's no rush to keep up with anyone else.
Because it's a playgroup, it's as much about the parents and caregivers as it is about the kids. You're in the water with them, so it's a shared activity rather than a drop-off class. It's a good spot to meet other families with kids around the same age while your little one splashes around.

Sessions run from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM on Fridays. Registration is required and space is limited, so you'll want to sign up ahead of time. Keep in mind that sessions may not run around holidays. It's free, so the only thing you need to bring is your kid and a towel.
