A 30-minute meditation program with a 20-minute guided meditation and a 10-minute closing discussion, using the museum's artwork as a focus for slow looking.
Meditation at the Mint returns to The Mint Museum (Uptown) on Wednesday, October 28, from 3:00 to 3:30 PM. It's a half-hour session that asks you to use the museum's artwork as a focus for 'slow looking'—a meditative practice that encourages reflecting, restoring, and feeling the transformative power of art for well-being.
The session is split into two parts: a 20-minute guided meditation followed by a 10-minute closing discussion. A Mint staff member, a Mindfulness Program Facilitator, leads the whole thing, and gallery stools are provided so you can sit and focus on the art rather than standing. The goal is to relax tension in the mind and body while building a sense of community with the other people in the room.
It's part of the museum's broader wellness and community-building offerings, which also include weekly yoga classes with Dancing Lotus Yoga + Arts. If you're already a regular there, this fits right in with that side of their programming. If you've never been, it's a low-stakes way to spend a Wednesday afternoon in the galleries.
