Agatha Christie's classic murder mystery embarks on its 75th Anniversary Tour, billed as the cleverest murder mystery of British Theatre.
The Mousetrap is coming to the New Theatre from 18 to 23 January 2027, as part of its 75th Anniversary Tour. It's Agatha Christie's classic murder mystery, and it's the world's longest-running play. It opened in the West End in 1952 at St Martin's Theatre, where it's been running for more than 70 years and over 30,000 performances, becoming as much of a London icon as Big Ben or Buckingham Palace.
Christie based it on her radio play Three Blind Mice, and she staged it on the strict condition that no audience member or member of the press give away the plot. She also stipulated that a film adaptation could only be made six months after the West End production closed—a clause that's made a film unlikely. The show still tours the UK, asking audiences the same question: whodunnit?
The plot follows seven strangers snowed in at a stately countryside guesthouse, who discover to their horror that a killer is in their midst. The cast for this run includes Nicholas Bailey as Major Metcalf, Susan Penhaligon as Mrs Boyle, Emily Laing as Mollie Ralston, Jack Hardwick as Giles Ralston, Thomas Barrett as Christopher Wren, Clare Duffy as Miss Casewell, James Peake as Mr Paravicini, and Alfie Richards as Detective Sergeant Trotter. It's billed as 'the cleverest murder mystery of British Theatre'.
