An improvised comedy murder mystery where the audience becomes the author of an Agatha Christie-inspired mystery, performed by Degrees of Error.
Murder, She Didn't Write comes to the New Theatre on Tuesday 12 January 2027, with the curtain going up at 19:30. This particular show is titled Degrees of Error.
It's a murder-mystery play set in the 1920s, and the central figure is Agatha Crusty, a renowned crime-solver called in to unravel an unexplainable murder. The twist is that the whole thing is improvised on the spot: the cast takes their cues from the audience, so you're effectively helping to write the mystery as it unfolds. They bill it as a sleuthing-pleasure experience, and since the plot is built from the room, no two nights end up the same.
This is the production's tenth edition, and it arrives in Cardiff after a sell-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe. It's a full evening out, running for about two hours with a 20-minute interval to stretch your legs and compare notes on the suspects. It's recommended for ages 12 and over, as it involves audience participation and may include strong language and sexual references.
