World stage premiere of the psychological thriller, starring Giovanna Fletcher, based on the best-selling novel.
Before I Go To Sleep is at the New Theatre from 23 to 27 February 2027, the world stage premiere of the psychological thriller. It's based on S.J. Watson's international bestselling novel, which you might know as the film starring Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth. Giovanna Fletcher takes the lead as Christine, a woman with an acute form of amnesia who loses her memory every single night. She wakes up remembering nothing from the last twenty years of her life, not even the husband lying next to her.
To get through the day, she relies on a journal to piece together not only her past but the day before. As she does, frightening secrets buried in her family home begin to emerge, forcing her to question everything and everyone around her. It's a slow-burn sort of mystery that builds as she fills in the gaps, and the whole thing is billed as a psychological thriller.
The production comes from the team behind the stage adaptation of The Girl on the Train, so it's in similar territory. The novel was adapted for the stage by Rachel Wagstaff and Loveday Ingram, and Ingram also directs. Jason Taylor is on lighting, which should play a big part in a show that centres on memory and things coming into focus. It's part of a wider tour across the UK and Ireland in 2027, visiting 21 venues between 15 January and 26 June, so Cardiff is one stop on a long run.
