Cambridge Footlights comedy show written by Freya Bielby about self-love and overthinking.
Cambridge Footlights are back at the Corpus Playroom on Tuesday 24 November, with a new show called You're So Vain You Probably Think This Show Is About You. It's a comedy written by Freya Bielby, and as the title suggests, it doesn't shy away from the self-referential.
Bielby's writing centres on two things that most of us spend a fair bit of time on: self-love and overthinking. It's that particular kind of comedy that comes from turning the lens inward and poking at the gap between how we see ourselves and how we actually come across. If you've ever spent an hour replaying a three-second interaction in your head, you'll recognise the territory she's working in.
The Footlights are a Cambridge institution, and this is one of their productions for the Michaelmas term. The show runs in the Corpus Playroom, which is part of the ADC Theatre complex, so it's right in the thick of the city's student comedy scene. It's a small, focused space, and the show is billed as a comedy, so expect a night of sketches and scenes rather than a stand-up set.

It falls in Week 7 of the term, and the performance starts at 21:30, which puts it on the later side of things. If you're planning to make it, keep in mind it's a Tuesday night in the heart of the term, so you'll want to get there a bit early to settle in before the curtain goes up. The show is You're So Vain You Probably Think This Show Is About You, written by Freya Bielby, performed by Cambridge Footlights at the Corpus Playroom on 24 November at 21:30.
