Leeds post-punk quartet Yard Act plays the Cambridge Junction with support from Do Nothing.
Yard Act play Cambridge Junction on Wednesday 18 November, with support from Do Nothing. It's their first Cambridge date in a while, and they're coming in from a fairly busy few years.
The Leeds quartet first got a lot of attention in 2020, and since then they've put out two top-five albums and picked up a Mercury Prize nomination. They've played plenty of shows and festivals around the world, and the sound has shifted a bit along the way — they started out as a minimal post-punk band and have grown into a more muscular, expansive outfit. If you've followed them from the beginning, you'll recognise the early, stripped-back stuff, but the newer material has a lot more weight behind it.
They're currently in the studio with producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen, who's worked with Beck, Nine Inch Nails and Wolf Alice, and a third album is on the horizon. That means this show sits between the two records they've already put out and whatever they're working on right now, so you'll likely hear a good mix of the older songs and the newer direction they're taking. Do Nothing open the night, so there's a full bill on the one.
