The Wedding Present play Cambridge Junction to mark the 35th anniversary of their 1991 album Seamonsters, with David Gedge playing favourite songs and new material.
The Wedding Present return to Cambridge Junction on Thursday 29 October, one of a string of British dates marking the 35th anniversary of Seamonsters, the pivotal long-player they released in 1991. It's a record that defined their sound for a lot of people, and this tour puts it front and centre.
In the late 1980s they were one of the most famous British indie bands, a career built on a habit of taking unusual decisions. For their first major-label offering, they recorded a set of Ukrainian folk songs; later, they released a single on the first Monday of every month for a whole year. Band members have come and gone since then, but the idea of the group remains, and original songwriter David Gedge still plays their favourite songs alongside new material live. That's the mix you'll get here: the older songs that have stuck around, and the newer things they've been working on.
