Stand-up show 'Unleashed' by Simon Brodkin, billed as his biggest tour yet, at the Cambridge Corn Exchange.
Simon Brodkin brings his new show Unleashed to the Cambridge Corn Exchange on Friday 23 October, part of what's billed as his biggest tour to date. It's a solo stand-up set, so it's just him on stage for the full two hours, which includes an interval.
If you've only known him as Lee Nelson, the cheerful chav character he's most famous for, it's worth remembering that Brodkin has been doing solo stand-up since 2004. Lee was one of several creations, alongside the Liverpudlian footballer Jason Bent, and he wrote and starred in the BBC series Lee Nelson's Well Good Show and Lee Nelson's Well Funny People. His previous tour, Screwed Up, ended up running for 170 dates around the world after being extended three times, and finished with three sold-out nights at London's Hammersmith Apollo.
Unleashed is built around outrageous punchlines and electric crowdwork, and he takes aim at a wide range of targets: wild swimmers, vape shops, Greta Thunberg, religion, and his wife's friends Claire and Carl. An EdFringe review called it a masterclass of stand-up at its very best.
