Scotland Introducing tour of emerging Scottish folk and traditional music with Heron Valley and Hannah Rarity at Cambridge Junction.
Heron Valley and Hannah Rarity play Cambridge Junction on Thursday 19 November, as part of the Scotland Introducing tour. It's a double bill of Scottish folk from two very different ends of the tradition: one a high-energy band, the other a singer-songwriter.
Heron Valley have been around since 2014 and they're a traditional band in the most active sense. The sound is built on bagpipe and fiddle tunes, held together by a driving rhythm section, and they've played festivals like Towersy, Belladrum and Shrewsbury, as well as international stages like Cèltica and the Festival interceltique de Lorient. It's the kind of set that leans on the dance side of the tradition.
Hannah Rarity is a vocalist who won BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year in 2018. She's recorded and toured with Blazin' Fiddles, Rura, Niteworks and Cherish the Ladies, and her albums 'Neath the Gloaming Star (2018) and To Have You Near (2022) were both shortlisted for Album of the Year at the BBC Alba Scots Trad Music Awards. In 2022, she became co-musical director of the Opening Concert of Celtic Connections.

The night is part of Scotland Introducing, a Showcase Scotland Expo initiative supported by Creative Scotland, the PRS Foundation and the Scottish Government. The project connects Scotland's emerging folk and traditional artists with English audiences, and in 2026 it's grown to four dedicated English tours. This is one of them.
It's in J2 at the Junction, which is unreserved seating, so you'll want to arrive a bit early if you're keen on a particular spot. Doors open at 7:30pm, the music starts at 8:00pm, and there's a curfew of 11:00pm. Tickets are £20, and under-14s need to be accompanied by an adult.
