A musical comedy retelling of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, with new songs and slapstick, suitable for ages 10 and over.
Pride and Prejudice… But Funny comes to Cambridge Junction on Wednesday 9 June 2027, starting at 7:15 pm. It's a comedic retelling of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, and it's from the same company that did Frankenstein (On a Budget) and Journey to the Centre of the Earth.
The show is billed as a ridiculous trip through the Bennets, Bingleys, bachelors, balls, De Bourghs and Darcys, full of belly laughs, brand new music and bonkers bonnets. There's at least one soaking wet shirt and some excellent boiled potatoes in the mix, too. It's made for adults but suitable for ages 10 and over, so it works as a night out with friends or something to bring the older kids along to.
If you're wondering about the company's track record, their previous show, Frankenstein (On a Budget), drew praise from Dara Ó Briain, Musical Talk, Theatre Scotland and One4Review, with critics calling it a 'comedic triumph' and 'a small gem'. This one follows a similar vein: a well-known story run through a comedic lens, with music woven in rather than just spoken lines.
