Cambridge University Musical Theatre Society's amateur production of the musical 'The Wiz', an adaptation of 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz', with a live band.
The Wiz opens at the ADC Theatre on Tuesday 10 November, running through to Saturday 14 November. It's a production by the Cambridge University Musical Theatre Society, and it's a joyous adaptation of L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, with a book by William F. Brown and music and lyrics by Charlie Smalls. If you know the story, you've got the gist: Dorothy crash-lands in the fantastical land of Oz, and the good witch Addaperle sends her along the yellow brick road to meet The Wiz, who has powers like no other. Along the way she makes friends and fights off mystical tribes, hallucinogenic poppies and the most evil witch in the land, Evillene.
Pratiti Dutta takes the role of Dorothy, with Maya-David Teittinen as the Scarecrow, Gabriella Roe as The Wiz, Angela Weinthrop as Addaperle, Ansh Dhot as Evillene, Venus Raman as Glinda and Eden Sung as Aunt Em. They're supported by an ensemble and a live band, which rounds out the whole show.

The ADC is Britain's oldest university playhouse, with plays staged on the site since 1855. It's a department of the University of Cambridge run almost entirely by students with no Faculty involvement, and it's helped launch the careers of Sir Ian McKellen, Stephen Fry and Emma Thompson, as well as the hit musical SIX. This run falls during Michaelmas Week 5, with performances starting at 19:45 from Tuesday 10 November through to Saturday 14 November.
