Winter Solstice evening of acoustic folk and roots music in cabaret style with Kitewing and Chris Cleverley at Cambridge Junction.
Kitewing and Chris Cleverley play Cambridge Junction on Saturday 19 December, as part of the New Routes series. It's a winter solstice special, and the night is set up in cabaret style with candles on the tables, so it's a seated affair rather than a standing crowd.
Kitewing is a collaboration between two critically acclaimed UK groups, The Shackleton Trio and Christina Alden & Alex Patterson. Their 2024 debut album, Kitewing, picked up praise from Songlines, BBC Radio 2, BBC Countryfile, Outline and Folking. If you've not heard them yet, that's a good place to start.
Chris Cleverley, an ambient dream-folk artist, brings an alternative festive set drawn from his Christmas records In the Shadow of John the Divine and Gods Of All Things. He plays fingerstyle guitar over ambient soundscapes, and he's cited Elliott Smith, Sufjan Stevens and Phoebe Bridgers as influences. The two acts together should make for a quiet, acoustic evening of folk and roots music.
