Live concert by singer-songwriter Katey Brooks, mixing Americana, folk and pop, at Cambridge Junction.
Katey Brooks plays Cambridge Junction on Friday 6 November, with the music starting at 8pm. It's a headline show, so she's the only name on the bill that night.
Brooks is a singer-songwriter whose work sits at the crossing of Americana, folk and pop. The Americana side brings the rootsy, open-road feel; the folk provides the acoustic, song-led core; and the pop gives it a melodic, accessible edge. When those three pull in the same direction, you get a sound that's easy to listen to but still has plenty of room to breathe.
As a singer-songwriter, the songs are the whole point here. The Americana, folk and pop are the colours she uses to build them, rather than a fixed style she sticks to. If you're into songwriting that doesn't feel like it's trying too hard to be one thing or another, this is exactly that kind of set.
