Kate Rusby brings her annual Christmas concert to the Cambridge Corn Exchange on Thursday 17 December, starting at 19:00. It's a tradition she's kept up for more than two decades, and for thousands of families it marks the true beginning of the festive season.
The set blends traditional Yorkshire carols, reimagined Christmas classics and her own songs, backed by her band and the Brass Boys. Those brass arrangements have become a hallmark of the tour; The Guardian called the show 'the warmest, most magical way to begin the festivities'.
Rusby is a folk singer who, at 26 in 1999, was named one of the Top Ten Folk Voices of the Century. She's a Mercury Prize winner and a six-time BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winner, known for her warm Yorkshire sense of humour and wide cross-over appeal. The Brass Boys join her band on stage to provide the brass section that's become such a part of the night.

The venue itself began life as a place to trade corn, one of many purpose-built corn exchanges found across the country. Trading ceased in 1965 and the building turned to concerts and community events, reopening in 1986 after extensive refurbishment as a key stop for touring entertainment. Tickets are £42.35 to £44.00, including booking fee.
