Live show by Flamy Grant, the drag queen and singer from Asheville, North Carolina, who blends Appalachian roots with drag artistry.
Flamy Grant plays The Portland Arms on Monday 16 November, bringing her drag and music from Asheville, North Carolina, to Cambridge. It's a solo bill, so the whole night is her.
Grant works across two worlds that don't often sit in the same room: drag and music. She's a singer-songwriter from the Appalachian South, and she performs in drag, combining the two on stage. The music comes from her roots in North Carolina, and the drag is the frame she puts it in. It's a mix of country, folk, and drag artistry, and she's played across the US and Europe, from Los Angeles and London to New York and the Netherlands.
She's made a name for herself with two albums. Her debut, Bible Belt Baby, hit number one on the iTunes Christian music charts in 2023, and picked up coverage in Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, Billboard and People. Her second record, CHURCH, reached number eight on the iTunes Country charts and earned her a 2026 International Folk Music Award nomination for Best Album, with over 1.5 million streams across digital platforms. Critics point to her soaring tenor and a fearless, flamboyant stage presence; Rachel Cholst has described her as a "powerhouse vocalist, intrepid songwriter and shame-slaying drag queen."
