Christmas Lights Switch On at Station Square 2026

The Christmas Lights Switch On comes to Station Square on Thursday 12 November, with Cambridge BID leading the way. It's one of two Christmas light events organised by Cambridge City Council to kick-start the city's festive season and mark the official countdown to Christmas.

There's more to it than just the lights coming on. The evening features quizzes and prizes, and live music from The Los Amigos, who'll be playing at Cambridge train station. The whole thing is designed to bring together residents, visitors, businesses and communities to celebrate what Cambridge has to offer at Christmas, so it's as much about the people turning up as it is about the lights themselves.

It's a free event, and because it's right by the station, it's easy to get to whether you're coming from across the city or travelling in for the night. If you're around on the 12th, it's a simple way to get the season started.
