Improvised Christmas pantomime by The Fletcher Players, the amateur dramatic society of Corpus Christi College, at the Corpus Playroom.
Chrimprov is coming to The Corpus Playroom on Wednesday 9 December, part of a run that goes until the 12th. It's an improvised panto from the Cambridge Improv Factory, and the whole thing is made up on the spot: they take film favourites and turn them into yuletide spectaculars, so you'll get the panto tropes — the dame, the villain, the audience participation — built around a story that doesn't exist until the night begins.
The show is put on by The Fletcher Players, Corpus Christi's amateur dramatic society and the resident company of the Playroom. The venue itself has a bit of a pedigree: it opened in 1979, founded by Caroline Oulten and Mark McCrum in disused college rooms on St Edward's Passage. Over nearly forty years, student-led productions here have brought through names like Hugh Bonneville, Sam Mendes, Emma Corrin and Stephen Fry, who wrote the play Latin! for the room's opening. The Fletcher Players are the college's resident company, and they focus on funding new writing through showcases like Smörgåsbord.
