Production of Shakespeare's 'Antony and Cleopatra' by Combined Actors of Cambridge at the Corpus Playroom.
Antony and Cleopatra is coming to the Corpus Playroom in Cambridge, running from Wednesday 20 to Saturday 23 January 2027. It's William Shakespeare's tragedy, produced by the European Theatre Group, and it's part of the Combined Actors of Cambridge programme.
If you're not entirely familiar with the play, it's one of Shakespeare's big historical ones. It follows the relationship between Mark Antony, one of the triumvirs who took over the Roman Empire after Caesar's death, and Cleopatra, the queen of Egypt. The two spend years in a passionate, volatile affair that eventually pits them against each other's political worlds, with the Roman general Octavius on the other side. It's a story of power, loyalty, and the kind of love that ends up costing both of them everything.
Because it's a four-night run, you've got a few different evenings to choose from rather than just one date. The production is being put on by the European Theatre Group, and it's listed as part of the Combined Actors of Cambridge programme, so it's a Cambridge-based production of a classic that's had plenty of takes over the centuries. The Corpus Playroom is the venue, and it's within the ADC Theatre complex, so it's right in the heart of the city's theatre scene.
