Stand-up comedy show by Morgan Rees, following a sold-out 2024 tour, about love and life.
Morgan Rees brings his new show, What a Bummer, to the Bristol Old Vic on Sunday 8 November, his first time back on the road since a sold-out tour in 2024. He's a Welsh stand-up and online sensation who made the finals of the BBC New Comedy Awards, and he's built a reputation for one-liners, rolling stories and sharp observations. He's a regular on the circuit as both an act and an MC, so you'll likely have seen him at comedy clubs across the country.
What a Bummer is a brand-new show that pulls from a few different places. A good chunk of it is about the trials and errors of falling in love and the work of keeping the spark alive. There's also the spiral-inducing limbo of waiting for a diagnosis, and the experience of being a white Welsh valley boy integrating into a proud Gujarati family. Mixed in are the more random bits: being banned from Great Western trains, being fired as a Naked Butler, and ghosting Paul McCartney.
The critics have been on board. The Sunday Times praised the fast gags and unexpected swerves, calling him a fine storyteller with tremendous heart and warmth, while The Scotsman, Entertainment Now, Broadway Baby and The Skinny all gave the show four stars.

It's a Sunday night, so it's a good one to keep in mind for a low-key weekend. The show starts at 7:30pm and runs for an hour and 45 minutes, including an interval. Tickets are £24, which includes the booking fee, and the venue is the Bristol Old Vic on King Street.
