The all-female Pallas Players bring Compton Mackenzie's comedy about islanders who rescue a shipwrecked cargo of 50,000 bottles of whisky.
The Pallas Players are taking Whisky Galore to Brighton Little Theatre from 8 to 15 May 2027. It's a comedy based on the Compton Mackenzie story, adapted for the stage by Philip Goulding, and this particular production is cast with an all-female company.
The play is set in 1955 on the Scottish islands of Great and Little Todday, at a time when wartime rationing has run the whisky dry. Things change when a ship carrying 50,000 bottles runs aground offshore, and the islanders decide to rescue the cargo before the pompous Captain Waggett can get his hands on it. It's built around eccentric characters, ingenious schemes and Highland hilarity, described as a spirited celebration of community, rebellion and a wee dram.
