A world-class variety show of dance with international stars, new creations and live music, blending classical favourites with modern masterpieces.
Ballet Nights comes to the Theatre Royal on Wednesday 9 December, a variety show that puts international ballet stars, contemporary innovators and live musicians on the same stage. It's not a single full-length ballet; the evening is built around a series of shorter pieces, with live music driving the whole thing. The programme runs through classical favourites and modern masterpieces, alongside emerging talent and brand-new creations, so you'll see the older, well-known work and newer pieces in the same night.
The format is a celebration of dance and live music, and the variety is the point: it brings together dancers and musicians from across the globe. Critics have described it as a compilation of towering choreographers and dancers that widens the form's appeal while offering a platform for fresh stars. The live music isn't just background; it's a central part of the evening, and the mix of classical and contemporary work means the bill spans a fair bit of ground.
