The Secret Comedy Club Open Mic AKA See You Next Tuesday

The Secret Comedy Club Open Mic, also known as See You Next Tuesday, is back at The Secret Comedy Club on Tuesday 14 July. It's Brighton's longest-running and most popular comedy open mic, and one of the main spots on the South Coast for new material. If you've never been, the format is pretty straightforward: it's a fast-paced night where comedians come to test out new bits before they land in a proper show.

What makes it work is the mix on stage. You'll get professional comics working through a new set, semi-pros honing their timing, and total amateurs stepping up for their first time, all in the same line-up. Because it's an open mic, you're hearing things that haven't been polished yet—the rough edges are part of the draw. Some bits land, some don't, and you're in on the process of a joke being built from the ground up.

The night runs at Artista, the independent venue at 42 Brighton Square (BN1 1HD), which is where the club calls home. It's part of a wider comedy schedule they run throughout the week: there's a Progression Night on Wednesdays, a mix of spots and headliners on Friday nights, and a pro-only night on Saturdays. And if you're into something a bit more competitive, they host a monthly Brighton Roast Battle on the first Thursday of every month.
