The Paint Club: Elephant

The Paint Club is back at The Railway Inn on Tuesday 22 September, and this time the brief is an elephant. It's a painting session where everyone in the room works on the same subject, so you'll spend the evening painting an elephant alongside a room full of other people doing exactly the same thing. If you've been before, you know the drill: you turn up, get your materials, and spend a couple of hours working your way through the image.

There's something quite satisfying about the format. Instead of staring at a blank canvas and wondering where to start, you've got a clear subject to focus on, and you're surrounded by other people at the same stage of the process. It's as much about the company as it is about the painting, and because everyone is working on the same thing, it's easy to chat and compare notes as you go. Whether you're someone who's painted a few things before or someone who hasn't touched a brush since school, you're in the same boat as everyone else in the room.

The session runs from 19:00 to 21:00, two hours to get your elephant sorted, and you'll leave with whatever you've managed to put on the canvas. It's a Tuesday night, so it's a good way to break up the week with something that isn't just work and the usual routine.
