The show features a mix of acting, singing, and large-scale puppetry. Emily Lim directs the production, with Toby Olié overseeing the puppet direction. The music is composed by Ahmed Abdullahi Gallab, with lyrics by Suhayla El-Bushra and Tom Brady. The cast includes Malinda Parris as the Enormous Crocodile and Audrey Brisson as the Roly Poly Bird, alongside other performers like Laura Buhagiar, Joanna Adaran, Nuwan Hugh Perera, and Elise Zavou. The design team, led by Fly Davis, uses a variety of puppets to represent the characters from the original story, which were developed by the Roald Dahl Story Company in collaboration with the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre and Leeds Playhouse.
The performance lasts approximately 55 minutes without an interval, and the age guidance is set at 3 years and older. For those planning to attend, tickets are available through atgtickets.com, with guide prices starting at ÂŁ15.00, though these can fluctuate based on demand. The theatre provides wheelchair access, a cloakroom, and bar facilities for use before the show or during the visit. It is generally recommended to arrive 20 to 30 minutes before the start time to collect tickets and settle in, as the box office opens 90 minutes before each performance. This production is part of a wider UK tour that includes stops in cities such as Kingston, Darlington, and Cardiff, with plans for a US run later in 2026 in Minneapolis and Los Angeles. The show is a result of a collaboration between British and American producers, reflecting its current tour schedule.
