Legendary magician Penn Jillette teams up with Piff the Magic Dragon for a historic night of world-class sleight of hand and comedy.
The Theatre Royal in Brighton is set for a rather unusual evening this autumn. On Sunday, 13 September 2026, the venue will host Piff & Popâs Magic Shoppe, a show that brings together two very different figures in the world of magic. It is a significant moment for Penn Jillette, who is touring the UK without his long-term partner Teller for the first time in fifty years. For this tour, Penn adopts the persona of âPop the Magic Dragonâ, partnering with John van der Putâbetter known as Piff the Magic Dragon. It also marks a homecoming for Piff, who has spent the last decade performing in Las Vegas and is now returning to the UK stage.

The performance itself is split into two acts to give both artists room to show what they do best. In the first half, youâll see solo sets from each of them. Penn Jillette is known for his world-class sleight of hand and his specific style of storytelling, which will be the focus of his individual segment. On the other hand, Piff provides the more deadpan, eccentric comedy and illusions that heâs famous for, accompanied by Mr. Piffles, the chihuahua often described as the worldâs only magic-performing dog. Itâs a chance to see their individual routines back-to-back before they change the pace for the second half of the night.
For the second act, the two performers join forces as a comedic duo. They have put together a large-scale finale that aims to blend their contrasting styles into a single performance. While the show doesn't have a strict age rating, the mix of Las Vegas-style entertainment, magic, and comedy tends to appeal to a broad range of people, from families to those just interested in the technical side of magic. The show is scheduled to start at 19:30, and tickets are currently listed at ÂŁ34.90. It is worth mentioning that although the event is still several months away, tickets have been on sale since September 2025 and booking platforms are already flagging low availability, so itâs something to keep in mind if youâre planning your calendar for the end of the summer.
