The Adventures of the Little Red Hen

Stuff and Nonsense bring The Adventures of the Little Red Hen to the Brighton Dome this December, with six performances running from Tuesday 22 to Thursday 24. It's a stage adaptation of the classic story we all know: the plucky little hen finds her own way to get things done when the lazy farmyard animals refuse to help her. They've built the show around puppetry, live music and comedy, so it's as much for the adults as it is for the kids.

Stuff and Nonsense are one of the UK's best-known family theatre companies, led by director Niki McCretton. They've built their name on clever storytelling, ingenious stagings and an ability to make audiences laugh, and they've won plenty of awards for their child-centred collaboration. They've always put children at the heart of their work, so this is a production made with them in mind rather than just for them. This version was restaged with the support of Lighthouse in Poole and The Lyric in Bridport, and it originally came from Salisbury Playhouse.

It's recommended for families and made for children aged three and over, so it's a good fit for the younger end of the house. The six shows run across three days, from Tuesday 22 to Thursday 24 December, with performances at 11am and 2.30pm. Doors open 45 minutes before each start, so if you're heading to the morning one, you'll be in by 10.15.

Tickets are £21.50 for adults, £14.50 for children and £58 for a family. If you're a Brighton Dome or Brighton Festival member, you'll save £2 on full-price tickets. The shows are in the Corn Exchange at the Brighton Dome.
