Annual celebration of singing with over 2,200 young singers from schools across Brighton & Hove and East Sussex, accompanied by professional musicians and Glyndebourne opera singers.
One Voice Festival of Singing returns to the Brighton Dome on 1 and 2 December, with two performances at 5pm and 7.45pm. It's an annual seasonal celebration produced by Create Music and Glyndebourne, in partnership with De La Warr Pavilion, and this year's edition brings together over 2,200 young singers from primary and special schools across Brighton & Hove and East Sussex.
On stage, a massed choir of Key Stage 2 children performs alongside a Glyndebourne soloist and young musicians from Create Music, including the Create Music Big Band and the Create Music Youth String Ensemble. The children spend the autumn term learning a festive repertoire, which they then perform at one of ten concerts across the region, accompanied by professional musicians and Glyndebourne opera singers. One teacher described working with world-class musicians and a Glyndebourne singer as 'the most powerful of experiences', one that will stay with the children for the rest of their lives.
The festival draws on the identity of Sussex, described as a land of fire and giants, farmers and fishing boats, cuckoos and conquerors, weaving the county's past together with its living customs of ritual and storytelling. Glyndebourne, a Trinity Champion Centre for 2025-26, is funding an Arts Award Discover certificate for 400 pupils taking part in this edition and awarding every participating pupil a digital badge meeting the RSA Badging Standard.
