A children's storytelling session with stories, games and mini makes for 2-4 year olds and their adults, themed around dinosaurs.
Stories With Skip returns to the Theatre Royal on Saturday 9 January 2027, with this session themed around dinosaurs. It's part of the theatre's children's programme, fronted by their mascot, Skip the mouse, and built for children aged 2.5 to 4 and their adults.
Each session follows a different theme, and this one is all about dinosaurs. The format is the same every time: stories, games, mini makes and plenty of joining in. It doesn't just stay in one room, either. The session starts in the stalls foyer, where there are things to see, touch and play with, before moving into the theatre's cosy lounge for the story itself. If you've got a little one who's still figuring out how to sit still, that bit of movement at the start is a handy way to settle them in before the storytelling begins.
There's something quite nice about the setting, too. The Theatre Royal is a Grade II* listed building that's been entertaining audiences for over 218 years, making it one of the oldest theatres in the country. For a toddler, it's a gentle first introduction to live theatre—a big, historic space brought down to their level. If you've never taken a small child into a theatre before, this is a low-pressure way to do it.
