Stories with Skip - Autumn Leaves

Stories with Skip returns to Theatre Royal Brighton on Saturday 7 November, with two sessions that morning: one at 10:15 and another at 11:30. This one is called Autumn Leaves, and it's built for toddlers and their grown-ups.

If you've never been, the format is a bit different from a standard show. It starts with the little ones seeing, touching and playing with things based on the session's theme, then exploring the inside of the theatre and making a mini craft. After that, everyone heads upstairs for a story in a cosy lounge. The whole approach is relaxed, gentle and fun for curious toddlers, and each session carries a different theme, so this one is all about autumn. Skip the mouse is the mascot of the venue's children's programme.

It's pitched as a perfect introduction to the Theatre Royal for little ones, and that makes sense when you look at the building. It's a Grade II* listed theatre on New Road that's been entertaining audiences for more than 218 years, making it one of the oldest in the country. For a toddler's first trip to the theatre, there's something nice about it being a gentle, hands-on introduction rather than just sitting still in the dark.

Tickets are £7.00, and both adults and children need one. The front doors open five minutes before the show, and the box office opens 90 minutes early if you need to sort anything before you head in.
