Dobbies Garden Centres in Brighton is hosting a free children's gardening workshop on Sunday 2 August, part of their Little Seedlings Club. This one is called Summer sun vs shade, and it's all about how plants use sunlight.
The session takes the sunny and shady sides of the garden and looks at how different plants handle the light. There are real plant demonstrations, interactive discussion and hands-on activities, and the whole thing is built around a few basic questions: how plants use sunlight to make food, why most plants are green, and which ones prefer the sun over the shade. They'll also touch on succulents and staying safe in the summer sun, so it's not just about the plants.
To wrap things up, the children make their own sun-shaped suncatcher to take home. The Little Seedlings Club is a series of free gardening workshops run by Dobbies, designed to get kids outdoors and show them how light and shade shape the garden.
